GAME PROFILE
NAME Hilda Valentine Goneril
AGE 24
BIRTHDAY 3rd of the Pegasus Moon (February 3rd)
GENDER Female
CANON Fire Emblem: Three Houses
EYE COLOR Pink
HAIR COLOR Pink
OCCUPATION Noble

PERSONALITY
At first glance, Hilda is a spoiled, lazy noblewoman who is content to have others do anything that resembles effort for her. She accomplishes this primarily through charm and manipulation, exaggerating her feminine delicacy or flattering someone until they offer to assist her. Kindness from Hilda often comes with an expectation, although she's just as likely to be friendly for its own sake depending on the person she's with.

The main reason for her lack of initiative is a fear of failure. She has seen the sort of pressure that being known for hypercompetance brings and the disappointment that failing to meet those standards brings. The way she sees it, if she doesn't put herself out there to begin with, no one can expect anything of her and she can't let anyone down.

That said, when Hilda deigns to put in the effort she's capable of a great deal. She's very perceptive, an accomplished fighter, and intensely loyal to those she believes are worth it. Her recent experience as a war leader has made those capabilities much more obvious, and she's much less likely to shy away from them as she once was.

Hilda is also quite creative, making jewelry and accessories in her free time and drawing simple illustrations. These are often created as gifts and are her way of showing that she actually cares about someone. Gifts (and acts of service, although she absolutely won't admit it) are a love language for her.

Arrival item: Freikugel (i.e., a creepy looking bone axe)
    life in fable
Game plans: Hilda needs a vacation after fighting in a war--while she's not as Deeply Traumatized as many of her classmates, she still has a lot of thoughts and feelings to work through now that the fighting is over. Fable will be a good place to do so without all of the Fódlan baggage tied to it. I look forward to her settling in, enjoying the cottagecore charm of the setting, and eventually opening a jewelry shop (that she will find someone to do the business management of because that's work).

Fruit trees: Apple! 🍎 FEAR THE DEER.

    Any final thoughts?

    Background Information:
    https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Hilda_(Three_Houses)#Profile
    https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Fire_Emblem:_Three_Houses#Plot

    Personality:

Hilda is a spoiled, lazy noblewoman who is content to have others do anything that resembles effort for her. She accomplishes this primarily through charm and manipulation, exaggerating her feminine delicacy or flattering someone until they offer to assist her. It's even more effective given Hilda's overall friendly and charismatic demeanor, which is just as often presented in earnest as it is in trying to get something out of someone. In interacting with her peers (and even with her class leader, who is technically a step above her), Hilda has an ease of demeanor that makes her likable despite her less-than-exceptional traits. She doesn't hesitate to flirt with men and women (although the game doesn't quite recognize the latter as flirting, per se)--she's a charming girl and she knows it. The game mechanics even lean into this, giving her the ability to boost stats for male characters nearby. While she sometimes veers into the microaggressive due to the close-mindedness of Fódlan as a whole and her territory specifically, she's usually friendly and approachable--or, if she finds that someone is too intimidated to approach her, she'll approach them first. That's the entire basis of her relationship with her classmate Marianne, after all.

Going back to her lazy behavior and lack of work ethic, the reasons for it are twofold. First, and more obviously, she's the only daughter and youngest child of a prestigious noble family and has wanted for nothing her whole life. When the need for effort is a rarity, it's simply more comfortable to convince others to put forth the effort in your place so that you can continue to enjoy your pampered life. The other reason for her lack of initiative is a fear of failure. Hilda's older brother, Duke Holst, is a renowned general and Golden Child of the Goneril family and the Leicester Alliance as a whole. She has seen the sort of pressure that being known for hypercompetance brings and the disappointment that failing to meet those standards brings. She's decided that she wants none of it--if she doesn't put herself out there to begin with, no one can expect anything of her and she can't fail anyone.

(Hilda herself shows the same sort of exacting standards, suggesting that it's something of a family trait to have them. This is evident in several of her supports wherein she intervenes to assist with or do tasks for other characters when she realizes that they aren't doing it right.)

All of that said, when Hilda deigns to put in the effort she's capable of a great deal. Despite what Hilda would have people believe, she is actually a very capable young woman. That's evident in her manipulative abilities, but also in her perceptiveness and her battle ability. Hilda makes several keen observations throughout the game, calling out Claude's insincerity at one point, making an off-hand comment about Monica's odd behavior in another, and often noticing details that don't quite fall into place. She's also a strong physical fighter, serving as a main damage-dealer for the Golden Deer House due to her high Strength and Speed stats. And, finally, Hilda proves herself an intensely loyal ally to people she believes are worth it--for example, she's furious on behalf of Marianne when rumors spread about her. She'll even going so far as being willing to die for Claude's cause in other routes despite being very clear that dying for someone else is not her thing.

Hilda is creative in addition to her battle abilities, making jewelry and accessories in her free time and drawing simple illustrations. These are often created as gifts and are her way of showing that she actually cares about someone. Gifts (and acts of service, although she absolutely won't admit it) are a love language for her.

    Abilities & Inventory:

    - Warrior class (~level 20): Axe at A proficiency; increased damage when using axes; increased chance of critical attacks
    - Minor Crest of Goneril: ability to prevent enemy counterattacks; implied to grant Hilda enhanced strength; ability to wield the Hero's Relic Freikugel to its fullest potential (although she doesn't have it by this canon point)
    - Jewelry making: yes, this counts!

-Arriving with: the clothes on her back and a Silver Axe

Suitability & Plans: Hilda's suitability for the game largely comes from in her personality and people skills. She's generally a friendly and charismatic person, and has few qualms about interacting with strangers. Several of her eventual endings make clear that she is skilled with networking and diplomancy, either on a political level or in founding a series of artisan schools throughout Fódlan. Her tendency toward close-mindedness will hinder her a bit, but without pre-established prejudices to fall back on (like she has toward Almyra, for instance) the negative effects of this should be pretty minimial.

Her biggest challenge by far will be getting over herself enough to participate more willingly in the worldbuilding, since she's the sort to dig her heels in and do the minimum amount of work necessary. I think being in this dreamscape will be a good opportunity for her to grow up and start caring about things, especially since what she's being asked to care about isn't related to warfare. No one is asking her to die or lead anyone; they're asking her to create, first and foremost. As an artisan, and as someone with an innate fear of failure, that approach will appeal more to her than the martial politics and noble pressures of her home world. As a result she'll likely come around more easily than she does in her own canon. Once she deigns to care, Hilda is an excellent and loyal asset--that will absolutely be true in Songerein.
